PHRASAL VERBS

Si definiscono Phrasal verbs i verbi seguiti da una preposizione o da un avverbio (o da entrambi) che ne modificano il significato.

Il verbo to hang ne è un ottimo esempio:

to hang significa "appendere", "attaccare", "impiccare" o "penzolare".

to hang around (come nella canzone) significa "bighellonare"

to hang on = aspettare

to hang out with  (somebody) = uscire con (qualcuno)

Correct the mistakes

a. London is a very big city. --> L'aggettivo è sempre posto prima del nome a cui si riferisce.
VERY BIG = ENORMOUS oppure HUGE
b. My mother works in a hotel. She is a receptionist. --> Il soggetto va sempre espresso.
c. My father watches TV...  --> verbo alla terza persona singolare del Present Simple.
d. He likes watching football.. --> il verbo is va eliminato e va aggiunta la desinenza -s al verbo like

e. ... we go to a restaurant. --> il moto a luogo è sempre espresso dalla preposizione TO, tranne con la parola home (go to home). La preposizione IN indica generalmente lo stato in luogo.

f. Hans is a businessman. --> sempre l'articolo A / AN  davanti ai nomi dei mestieri/professioni.

g. Your family is very nice. --> il possessivo si scrive con la -R finale.

h. I like listening... --> dopo i verbi che indicano gusti e preferenze (like, hate, love ecc.) il verbo viene espresso alla -ING form.

i. Our school has a lot of... --> terza persona singolare del verbo HAVE non è have ma has.

j. The children... --> si tratta di un plurale irregolare che non vuole la -s finale.

k. We have the dinner... --> davanti ai nomi dei pasti non si mette alcun articolo.

l. Buses in London are red. --> non si fa il plurale degli aggettivi, che sono invariabili.

m. My brother doesn't have / hasn't got a job. --> forma negativa del verbo AVERE.

n. Do you want AN ice-cream? --> davanti ai termini che iniziano per vocale, si usa AN.

o. My flat is near here. --> Nella frase affermativa in inglese, il soggetto precede il verbo, non il contrario.

come anticipato in classe, ecco la scaletta della lettera personale da scrivere per venerdì 25/5:
Part 1: introduce yourself
name, surname, age, nationality, origin of your family, physical descritption, your personality - write examples for every adjective you choose - your likes and dislikes, your hobbies and pastimes, your school, favourite (and least favourite) school subjects (and why), your routine (describe a typical day).
Part 2: introduce your family
family members, age, physical description, personality, jobs.
Part 3: your place
describe your town (where it is, what ineteresting places there are and things to do)
Part 4:
in the Past Simple, describe an interesting trip you went on with the school or on holiday.
Part 5: describe your future school and future plans
